- I agree to the proposal v5 with the following exceptions:
- >CTRL Home - Move to top of page
- >Shift+CTRL Home - Move to bottom of page
- >ClrHome - Move to top of document
- >Shift+ClrHome - Move to bottom of document
-
- I'd rather have:
- CTRL+ClrHome - Move to top of document
- Shift+CTRL+ClrHome - Move to bottom of document.
- ClrHome - Move to the top of whatever the cursor is in.
- Shift+ClrHome - Move to the bottom of whatever the cursor is in.
- "whatever the cursor is in" could be a text frame/object, page or
- document.
-
- Reasons:
- - Safety. If you accidentally press ClrHome, you'll find back to where you
- were easier, if the cursor has only jumped to the top of the frame/page
- instead of jumping to the top of the document. CTRL-ClrHome is harder
- to hit by accident.
- - Flexibility. If the application doesn't have frames/objects, it can
- still let the cursor move to top of page. If there aren't any pages
- either, then it could go to top of window or top of document.
- - Press key -> cursor jumps. Press more keys -> cursor jumps more.
- I hope you understand what I mean.
- - The original proposal didn't mention (consider?) text frames/objects,
- which are often used in DTP and word processors.
-
- This also goes for the combinations with Shift. Just change the direction.
-
- >Shift+CTRL C - Append (to clipboard) *1
- >*1 Suggested by Scott Sanders is a Save Block operation instead of
- >Append to clipboard. The reasoning is that Append is only useful for
- >text editors.
- This is not true. I've already said that twice.
- Appending to clipboard will also work (at least) in word processors, flow
- chart editors, databases ans spreadsheats. So please take *1 out of the
- proposal.
- >*2 It may be a good idea to use ST Guide as the standard tool for Help.
- No. A standard application wouldn't be good. What if the programmer lost
- his source codes?
- I'd prefer a standard communication protocol for Help that all
- applications/accessories should stick to. Then it wouldn't matter if
- you're using ST Guide or something else.
